Traffic alert: Lane closures begin Monday on N.C. 53 in Pender County for bridge maintenance

MAPLE HILL, NC (WWAY) — Drivers in Pender County can expect intermittent lane closures on N.C. 53 beginning Monday, November 2, as crews perform routine bridge maintenance.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, contractors will begin work at 9 a.m. on the bridge along N.C. 53 between Sycamore Springs Road and James Dixon Trail.

The maintenance will require intermittent lane closures in both directions.

Work is expected to continue through Friday, November 6, at 5 p.m., weather permitting.

NCDOT advises drivers to slow down and remain alert when traveling through the work zone.
