Calabash Turkey Trot celebrates 12th year, marks 100th race for Coastal Race Productions

CALABASH, NC (WWAY) — A popular Thanksgiving tradition is returning to Brunswick County this November, with this year’s Calabash Turkey Trot marking a major milestone for its organizers.
The 12th annual Calabash Turkey Trot will take place Thursday, Nov. 26, marking the 100th race organized by Coastal Race Productions.
The event has become a Thanksgiving morning tradition for families and runners throughout the region, bringing people together for a morning of exercise and community celebration before the holiday festivities begin.
“Over the past 12 years, this event has become so much more than a race,” said JoJo Terragna, co-owner of Coastal Race Productions. “It’s a Thanksgiving tradition where families return year after year, friends reconnect, and new memories are made.”
Terragna said reaching the company’s 100th race on Thanksgiving makes the milestone especially meaningful.
“To celebrate our 100th race on Thanksgiving morning, surrounded by the community that helped us get here, makes this milestone especially meaningful,” Terragna said.
This year’s event will feature pirate-themed finisher medals, along with an exclusive commemorative 100th Race Treasure Pin for the first 2,500 registered participants.
Runners and walkers of all ages and experience levels are invited to participate, with three race distances available.
Race times include:
- 10K: 7 a.m.
- 5K: 8:30 a.m.
- 1-mile race: 9:15 a.m.
Participants can also take on the ultimate challenge by completing all three races to earn an additional bonus medal.
The event takes place along River Road in Calabash, where families and friends have gathered for the annual Thanksgiving tradition for more than a decade.
Organizers say the race is designed to bring the community together, whether participants are competitive runners, casual walkers or families looking to start the holiday with a fun activity.
