(WWAY) — A new report from the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) informed election officials in Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio of roughly 130,000 interstate duplicate voter registrations going into the midterm election.

PILF’s nationwide voter roll research program, which began in 2020, matches individuals who are registered to vote across state lines and those who could vote twice in both states.

California, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maine, and Iowa data was also collected for the study.

The report found Florida has 84,260 duplications, North Carolina had 33,190, and Ohio had 11,085.

The process also detects examples of those who may require voter list maintenance after moving away.

Not all states share data to directly track interstate duplication.
