WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Novant Health says employees experiencing delayed paychecks should receive their money Friday, Nov. 6, following a technology issue involving a new payroll vendor.

WWAY received reports Friday morning from local Novant Health employees who said their paychecks had not arrived on time.

In a statement provided to WWAY, a Novant Health spokesperson confirmed the delays were connected to a recent change in the health system’s payroll distribution vendor.

“Novant Health switched to a new payroll distribution vendor in October. Following that transition, we identified a technology issue that impacted the arrival time of deposits into each financial institution’s account,” the spokesperson said.

According to Novant Health, payroll has been completed, and funds have been transmitted to financial institutions for deposit.

The health system says its payroll vendor, ADP, has confirmed that payments will reach employees’ bank accounts Friday.

Novant Health to reimburse employees for fees

Novant Health also announced plans to reimburse employees for certain financial fees resulting from the paycheck delays.

“We sincerely apologize for the frustration and concern this delay has caused,” the spokesperson said. “We are taking immediate steps to support affected team members, including reimbursing overdraft, late or returned-payment fees resulting from the delay.”

The health system says it will communicate directly with affected employees about available resources and how to request reimbursement.

Novant Health also says it is working to prevent similar payroll problems from happening again.

WWAY will continue to follow the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
