Mobile reptile unit on display in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A mobile reptile unit slithered its way into the parking lot of Waterline Brewery in Wilmington Saturday afternoon.

In addition to several snakes of different sizes, ‘Fresh Start Rescue’ also had a collection of other large reptiles.

Most of the animals are housed in a 28-cage trailer, which offers visitors the chance to see them up close.

Although many people were hesitant to touch or hold the snakes, organization president Nicole Spencer says they’re trying their best to educated the public.

“We try to dispel all the myths,” Spencer said. “Tell them they’re not as scary as some people think they are. A lot of times if you can have an experienced handler holding it and they can just touch it, they become less fearful. They understand it’s not just gonna attack them.”

Spencer says they plan to make many stops around the Cape Fear over the coming months.
