Seasonal speed limits in effect for parts of N.C. Highway 12
RODANTHE, NC (AP) — North Carolina transportation workers are swapping out speed limit signs on the lone road that links the Outer Banks to the mainland as the summer travel season picks up.
The N.C. Department of Transportation says in a news release that workers began the project on N.C. Highway 12 on Thursday in parts of Currituck and Dare counties.
On Saturday, the speed limits in areas through Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo, as well as in Duck, Corolla and Frisco drop from 45 mph to 35 mph to account for more vehicle and pedestrian traffic during the summer months.
The seasonal speed limits remain in effect through Sept. 15.
