A morning to remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — January 15th would have been the 90th birthday of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Saturday morning, New Hanover County officials, teachers, churches, students and many more celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. King.

Rev. Dr. Terry L Henry of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington was recognized as the ‘Minister of the Year’. St. Stephen AME Church was honored as the ‘Church of the Year.”

The crowd was taken aback by the wise words of educational activist Marcus Bass. WWAY’s Monique Robinson was the Mistress of Ceremonies.

All proceeds supported the NHC NAACP youth programs including ACT-SO, Sankofa Summer Academy, scholarships, youth council and the UNCW chapter.
