AAA Carolinas shows dangers of texting and driving

CONCORD, N.C. — AAA Carolinas wants to show the dangers of texting while driving with a demonstration of what it’s like behind the wheel.

The organization’s Foundation for Traffic Safety will offer golf cart rides Thursday on a driving range at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Organizers will provide a behind-the-wheel live test involving both talking and texting while driving.

A bicyclist who survived an accident involving a texting driver also will speak at the event.

Legislation to ban North Carolina drivers from writing text messages and e-mails is gaining momentum in the Senate. A judiciary committee passed a House bill May 19.
