Afternoon shooting victim not cooperating with police

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating the shooting of a 28-year-old man this afternoon.

Investigators say they got a 911 call around 1:30 p.m. about the shooting at 6th and Nixon streets. They did not find a victim there, but police say they got a call from New Hanover Regional Medical Center about a gunshot victim.

Police say the victim is Ronnell Marcus Melvin of Wilmington. There’s no word yet on his condition, but police say Melvin is not cooperating with investigators.
