Aide says Edwards’s wife threatens suit; John rumored to be house-hunting
Elizabeth Edwards has reportedly threatened to sue her husband’s presidential campaign aide for contributing to the downfall of their marriage. Andrew Young says Mrs. Edwards has threatened an “alienation of affection” lawsuit.
Young said he had anticipated that the Edwards family would come after him following his book about the candidate’s affair. An alienation of affection lawsuit allows a person to sue a third party for contributing to the breakup of a marriage. Jilted spouses typically seek money from their partner’s lover.
North Carolina is one of just a handful of states that still has such a law. A spokeswoman for Elizabeth Edwards declined to comment.
Meanwhile John Edwards is rumored to be looking for another home in our area. File this one under “consider the source,” but the National Enquirer reports Edwards is planning to buy this $3.5 million home on Bald Head Island.
The gossip magazine calls it a “love nest” for the former senator and his mistress and mother of his child. John and Elizabeth Edwards already own a home on Figure Eight Island in New Hanover County.
Earlier this winter, the Enquirer reported edwards was planning to rent a million-dollar home for Rielle Hunter and her daughter here in Wilmington. Those rumors never panned out.
