Albert J. Ellis Airport serves record number of fliers
Albert J. Ellis Airport in Onslow County set a new record for passenger traffic in 2008.
The airport served more than 262,000 passengers, an eight percent increase. Airport officials said they are very pleased in the growth despite the decline in national travel numbers.
Wilmington International Airport also saw a record number of travelers in 2008, as about 800,000 travelers went in and out of ILM on its three carriers.
