Alcami to be purchased by private equity firm

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington pharmaceutical company is being acquired by a private equity firm based in Chicago.

According to a news release, Alcami, which is located on Scientific Park Drive, has reached an agreement to be acquired by Madison Dearborn Partners LLC.

The firm will acquire a majority ownership position from its existing shareholder.

Alcami’s management team will remain with the company.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter.

Alcami was formerly known as AAI Pharma.
