SC toddler drowns in nearby creek

LUGOFF, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say a 2-year-old who wandered away from his grandmother’s apartment in Lugoff was found dead in a creek after a three-hour search.

The State newspaper in Columbia reports the body of Neko Jacob Clark was found Saturday evening in Twenty-five Mile Creek. Coroner David West says the child left the apartment while his grandmother was braiding her granddaughter’s hair.

West says an autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

The Kershaw County sheriff’s office and coroner’s office continue to investigate the child’s death.
