ALE cracks down on minor tobacco sales

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Seven North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement agents cited 20 store clerks in the NewsChannel 3 viewing area for selling tobacco to minors.

That is a class-two misdemeanor and carries a fine up to $1,000.

Agents found the vast majority of stores here refused to sell to minors.

There has been a decrease in since a statewide crackdown began in 2005.
