All-American Beauties to take the stage this weekend

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday, there will be crowns for everyone as boys and girls of all ages and abilities take the stage for the All American Beauties Pageant.

The event is a fundraiser for the First in Families Holiday Shop, an opportunity for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to get presents for their family free of charge. Additional money raised will also go towards the Shining Stars, the cheerleading team for Special Olympics of New Hanover County. The cheerleaders are traveling to Seattle later this month for the Special Olympics USA Games.

The pageant will be a fun afternoon for the whole family. Boys and girls will dress up and perform at Cape Fear Christian Church (811 N. College Rd., Wilmington) at 2 p.m. WWAY’s own Hannah Patrick will be the emcee.

Tickets are $7 per person and includes a program. Children aged 5 and under are free. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

Another opportunity to help the Special Olympic Cheerleaders include a fundraiser at Spoonfed Kitchen and Bake Shop next Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Plates are $10 each.
