All clear at SBHS after false alarm of suspicious people nearby
BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — A lockdown at South Brunswick High School and South Brunswick Middle School has ended.
A school district spokeswoman says the lockdown began after a report of two people walking outside of a fenced area behind the high school. A Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said there was a report of someone in the woods possibly with a gun.
The Sheriff’s Office says the all-clear was given after investigators found it was just two students skipping school. She says the lockdown lasted about 40 minutes.
Witnesses reported a lot of law enforcement rushing toward the school during the lockdown. Calls to our newsroom included several different rumors about a gunman on campus, none of which were true.
