Allegiant Air begins service to Tampa from ILM

More air service for Wilmington as Allegiant passengers left ILM for a new destination. The airline began its service to Tampa, Florida Thursday.

While the flight wasn’t full, passengers seemed excited about the new destination. Airport officials said while the new flight helps those traveling out of Wilmington, it is also important for those visiting our area.

Airport director, Jon Rosborough said, “They’re not making any connecting flights so they’re staying here in Wilmington, North Carolina. I think that has a lot to say with what we have to offer as a point of destination.”

The first flight was an on-time departure. While this flight wasn’t full, if you’re hoping to travel to Tampa for the holiday season, don’t wait too long. Flights around Thanksgiving are almost sold out.
