Allegiant Air takes first flights to Orlando

WILMINGTON — It’s been a little more than a week since Allegiant Air’s first flight to Orlando took off from Wilmington.

Most of the airline’s first customers in our area have already been to Orlando and back.

They said the flights were on time and they weren’t bothered that allegiant flew into Orlando’s Sanford airport, which is about 50 miles from Disney.

They said the Sanford Airport was small and easy to navigate. The only complaint is Allegiant doesn’t operate often enough.

Right now Allegiant flights to and from Wilmington are only scheduled on Mondays and Fridays.
