PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Amazon is expanding its growth plans for Pender County.
The online retailer announcing a second facility will be built in Pender Commerce Park, which is along U.S. Highway 421, three miles from I-140.
According to an Amazon spokesperson, the newest facility will be a fulfillment center. Work on that center is already underway, with a ceremonial groundbreaking scheduled for early 2025.
The fulfillment center will be in the same area as Amazon’s delivery station. Plans for the delivery station were announced in March of 2022. While that project was initially set for completion in 2023, work on it has yet to begin, according to the Amazon spokesperson.
The Amazon delivery station will create more than 100 full-time jobs in Pender County, but an exact number of jobs the fulfillment center will bring has not yet been released.
