American Legion honoring old American flags

The American Legion Post 10 will hold a proper disposal ceremony for old American flags Tuesday.

Post 10 has collected flags throughout the year to retire them on Veterans Day.

Boy Scouts built a patriotic box the Legion is using for people to drop off their old flags.
The ceremony ensures each flag will be properly retired.

”You don’t take it down and throw it in a trash can. You don’t drag it across the ground. You don’t fly it upside down or anything like that. To properly dispose of it you burn it,” said Miton Woodle of Post 10.

If you have a flag that needs to be retired you can bring it to the ceremony. It will begin Tuesday morning at 10:15 a.m. at the American Legion Post 10 on Pine Grove Drive.

The American Legion will have flags on sale to replace those people bring to the ceremony.
