Amusement park will be back at Carolina Beach

It is official; Carolina Beach will soon be home to an oceanfront amusement park. Town Council approved the project at a public hearing Tuesday night.

A Florida-based company recently presented its outline for the project to town leaders. Business owners have expressed interest, saying it would draw more people to the area. Mayor Joel Macon said the amusements would create more of family atmosphere in Carolina Beach.

“I’m very positive and have a positive feeling about the amusements coming back to Carolina Beach,” said Macon. “I feel that’s our roots and it can be a plus to the boardwalk.”

As many as 15 temporary rides could be part of Carolina Beach’s boardwalk as soon as May. They would help town leaders decide if they should install a park permanently.
