Animal control investigating after finding underweight horse

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Officials in Columbus County are investigating a case of possible animal abuse and neglect.

Columbus County Animal Control says they have taken custody of an underweight horse suffering from other medical issues. Columbus County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation out of Lake Waccamaw.

Shelter Director Joey Prince says the investigation is on going and they have not other comment at this time. He says the horse is being taken care of thanks to donations from volunteers.
