Annexation of Monkey Junction on hold

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – An attorney for residents who live in Monkey Junction filed the appeal Thursday to try and keep the City of Wilmington from annexing the area.

A judge ruled earlier this month to allow the annexation to go forward.

Wilmington City Council approved the annexation last year and this appeal could take up to a year an a half before it goes infront of a judge.

Some of the people who live in Monkey Junction say they don’t want to be annexed because it would mean paying additional city taxes.
