Anthony’s Italian restaurant moves locations to accommodate growing Whiteville

WHITEVILLE (WWAY) — One Columbus County restaurant is on the move, though only down the street.

Anthony’s, an Italian restaurant in Whitesville, is now on South Madison Street in the heart of downtown.

It was located on Mill Street for years.

Anthony Grippi was born in Sicily, then moved to New York, where he worked in his family’s restaurants before making his final move to Whiteville.

He explained that they needed to move to accommodate the city’s growing population.

“Things are kind of changing here in Whiteville,” he added. “So, we need a little more room and bar scenery for the area.”

At this time, there is no word on what business may move into the historic brick building where Anthony’s began.
