Aquarium cares for cold-shocked loggerheads

FORT FISHER, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher opened its doors to eight injured loggerhead sea turtles New Years Day.

The endangered reptiles are eight of more than 150 turtles injured due to a mass cold-stunning event along the New England coast.

Sea turtles cannot control their body temperature, so the cold water slows them down and can kill them.
