Area churches prepare for Good Friday
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Churches are making preparations for Good Friday this week.
First Baptist Church Wilmington‘s Associate Pastor, Jim Everette, said they are holding a virtual Good Friday Service, reading passages of scripture, praying, and celebrating the day in the Christian calendar when God sacrificed his son.
Everette said they plan to post the video to their website, keeping people socially distanced, and making the service accessible to those still working.
“So our service times ends with total darkness,” said Everette. “All the candles have been extinguished. And in the darkness of the tomb, we will remember Christ’s great sacrifice.”
First Baptist is not the only church offering an online Good Friday service. Pine Valley Baptist plans to offer a virtual worship service, streamed live, while the Bridge Presbyterian will a virtual Tenebrae, similar to First Baptist’s.
