Area residents receive $9M in FEMA aid for Hurricane Matthew
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — FEMA has approved more than $9 million in aid for victims of Hurricane Matthew.
Overall, the agency says it has approved more than $77.8 million through its Individuals and Households Program (IHP) to help people in 45 North Carolina counties impacted by the October storm and flooding. That includes Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus and Pender counties in our area.
Locally, Columbus County residents have received the most aid totaling more than $5.2 million. That’s the sixth largest total among the 45 counties getting aid. Robeson County has received the most at more than $20 million.
