Area unemployment up again
Unemployment continues to rise in our area. The Employment Security Commission today said more than 18,000 people in the Wilmington metro area were out of work in November. That’s an unemployment rate of 10.2 percent, which is up from 9.8 percent in October.
Bladen (12.1) and Pender (10.9) Counties were both down one-tenth of a point from October and November. But Brunswick County’s unemployment rate increased nine-tenths of a percent to 11.5 percent while Columbus (12.9) and New Hanover (9.5) were both up three-tenths.
