Arrest made in Pender Co. ‘honey robbery’


PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies said they’ve made an arrest in a crime targeting a man trying to sell honey in a driveway.

Deputies said the crime was reported in April south of Burgaw on Highway 117 S. They said Travenus Grainger approached a man selling honey in front of his home and robbed him of money and a cellphone. Deputies said the suspect also displayed a weapon in the crime.

Grainger was arrested in New Hanover County on Thursday and was booked under a $125,000 bond, deputies said. He’s facing charges including robbery with a dangerous weapon and 2nd degree kidnapping.
