Arrests made in Wilmington armed robberies
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Investigators with the Wilmington Police Department have arrested a pair in connection with two early morning armed robberies.
Police said the robberies happened yesterday morning at the Waffle House in the 5000-block of Market Street and the 800-block of Queen Street between the hours of 2 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. There were no injuries reported, but police said the suspects had handguns. Police said money was taken in the first incident at the restaurant parking lot.
Police said Ashton Fletcher Harris, 25, and Barbara Nicole Shaw, 25, were arrested and charged in the incidents. They’re facing charges including armed robbery and attempted armed robbery. Police said more charges could be pending.
Investigators said Harris was also served with outstanding warrants in other parts of the state, and Shaw was also charged with misdemeanor child abuse and exposing a child to fire. A third woman was also charged with those offenses during the investigation, but those charges were later dismissed. They said the women are facing those child abuse charges because a child was left without proper supervision.
