Art and the Bloom Floral Challenge kicks off
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The second annual Art & the Bloom floral design challenge kicks off Thursday bringing over 23 designers to the Blockade Runner in Wrightsville Beach.
The New Hanover Garden Club sponsors the event which pairs designers with a piece of fine art. They will create an artistic arrangement as their interpretation of the artwork and will be judged for prizes.
The designers represent regional garden clubs and includes professional master judges and others in the floral trade. The art is from private collections and the Wilmington Art Association.
There will be several workshops and demonstrations which will include NGC Master Judge and Flower Show School instructors, Frances Thrash and Pam Braun, along with noted author, Mark Weathington. An afternoon tea on Friday and Saturday will include sandwiches, scones, desserts and a raffle. A fashion show of hats will be presented by aMuse: Artisanal Finery.
