Ash man pleads guilty after father injured


BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (StarNewsOnline) — An Ash man who law enforcement officials initially said shot his father in the head in fact only punched him and was sentenced to probation Wednesday.

Michael McKeithan, 47, pleaded guilty in Brunswick County Superior Court to solicitation to assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Deputies initially thought McKeithan shot his father, Paul McKeithan, with a 12-gauge shotgun Aug. 13 at the family’s Stout Road home. The elder McKeithan had injuries to his head and there was evidence the shotgun had been fired, it was revealed Wednesday in court.
