Ashley baseball players sign to play in college

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — College baseball teams began signing recruits Wednesday. Today at Ashley High School, two Eagles signed to play at the next level.

Chance Shepard and Christian Wolfe will both play Division I baseball. Shepard is a catcher for the Eagles. He made it official today he will play his college ball for NC State.

“A ton of relief, because that’s always what I have wanted to do since I was a little boy is to follow in my dad’s footsteps and play at NC State, so I’m just relieved I guess,” Shepard said.

Wolfe is also staying in state and even closer to home. He will play at UNCW.

“I’m officially a UNCW baseball player, and that has been my dream for a long time, because I don’t want to leave this town at all,” Wolfe said.

Shepard and Wolfe are the 17th and 18th players from Ashley to move on to play college ball.
