SHP: Alcohol a factor in crash that killed young woman
HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) – Troopers said charges are pending in a deadly crash near Surf City.
According to a Highway Patrol spokeswoman, the crash was reported on US 17 last night around 10:34 p.m. Troopers said Gregory Blanks was traveling north when he tried to turn left into his driveway and hit a second vehicle. The passenger in that vehicle, Brittany Ann Tighe, 21, was killed in the crash. Blanks and the driver of the second vehicle, Brody Bradley, were transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for injuries. There’s no word on their conditions.
Trooper J.A. Murray is investigating. He said alcohol was a factor in the crash. He said Tighe was not wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash. There’s no word on what charges will be filed. An SHP spokeswoman said Trooper Murray will consult with the district attorney.
