Attorney General asks for names of sex offenders on MySpace

Remember those 90,000 sex offenders MySpace recently identified and removed from it’s social networking site? More than 2,000 of them were registered in North Carolina.

In response to a subpoena from Attorney General Roy Cooper, MySpace has turned over the names, e-mail and IP addresses of convicted sex offenders with profiles on the site.

Competing social networking site Facebook has also found and removed more than 5,000 convicted sex offenders.

A North Carolina law in effect since December prohibits convicted sex offenders from being members of these sites because children are also members.
