Author John Updike comes to UNCW
WILMINGTON — A two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author is making a once in a lifetime appearance at UNCW Tuesday.
John Updike came into town Tuesday afternoon and spent much of the day in a question and answer session with UNCW students.
He also stuck around afterward to sign a few autographs.
Updike's most famous works are his Rabbit series and The Witches of Eastwick.
Updike gave NewsChannel three his advice for up-and-coming authors: "They should have a distinct objective — what kind of writing they want to do, what kind of publications they would like to appear in. I meet enough young writers who have no sense that they are trying to market a product."
Updike will also be at Kenan Auditorium Tuesday night to perform a reading as well as conduct another question and answer session.
Tickets for the show have already sold out.
