Autocross promotes controlled driving and Toys For Tots

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An autocross event brought 73 cars and a variety of people to the CFCC parking lot this weekend. Autocross is a driving competition all about balancing both speed and control, but this event decided to put a spin on things by also donating to Toys for Tots. Everyone who brought a toy or made a donation received a discount on their entry fee.

Cape Fear Chapter Coordinator Chris Severt says the competition not only benefits Toys for Tots, but benefits drivers.

“People like cars and they like to drive them. This is a safe affordable way to have fun with your car that you do not get to do out on the street. And we live down here at the coast. There are not many fun roads; everything is flat and straight. So this is a way to drive your car aggressively in a controlled environment”

Chris says events like this one happen every month. To get involved, head to his website at www.ncrscca.com
