Azalea Queen tours Wilmington

Azalea Queen Lindsey Shaw received the royal treatment as she toured Wilmington today.

Shaw started the day by visiting some children at New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Betty H. Cameron Women and Children’s Hospital. She spoke with some of the kids about their favorite hobbies.

Shaw says hanging out with the kids helps put her reign as queen in perspective.

“We had a really great presentation downstairs of the staff and the history of what this place was,” Shaw said. “And we’ve gotten to meet a couple of patients so far, which has been so great and amazing, and it’s just such a humbling experience.”

After the hospital the queen and her court were serenaded at Cape Fear Academy. Shaw talked to the kids about the importance of finding something you love and pursuing your dreams.
