Bald Head Island Public Safety Officer arrested for DWI
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Early Sunday morning, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Bald Head Island Public Safety Officer and charged him with DWI.
According to the incident report, Malcolm Kennedy, 26, was arrested on US 74/US 17 in Leland just before 2 a.m.
Kennedy is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon after consuming an alcoholic substance. Items found on him during his arrest include a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver, ammo, a leather pistol holster and a Bald Head police officer badge.
Calls to the Bald Head Island Department of Public Safety on the status of Kennedy’s employment referred us to the village manager. Village Manager, Chris McCall, says Kennedy submitted his letter of resignation on Sunday.
McCall says Kennedy has been with the BHI Public Safety Department since October 10, 2014.
