Bald Head bones waiting for ride to Raleigh

BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Back in February, crews working on Bald Head Island discovered human bones believed to date back to the 1800s.

At the time, archaeologists at Fort Fisher said the bones would go to Raleigh for further examination. But three months later, those bones are still waiting for their trip to the Capital City. Archaeologists say they are allotted limited travel time and it’s taken a while to properly clean the bones and box them up.
