BCSO: Northwest police officer dies of apparent gunshot wound
BELVILLE, NC (WWAY) — A part-time Northwest police officer was found dead of an apparent gun shot wound in Belville Friday evening, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, the BCSO 911 Communications Center received a call about a cardiac arrest on Maple Branches Drive in Belville.
Detectives found Michael Morgan, 37, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Investigators do not suspect foul play. They also say it was not an intentional, self-inflicted injury. No one else was involved.
Morgan was a part-time police officer with the Northwest Police Department. He was not on duty at the time of the incident.
