Beach access walkways damaged during recent storm to be repaired in Carolina Beach
Due to safety concerns, some of the walkways had to be closed.

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Carolina Beach says several of the public beach access walkways were damaged during the recent king tide and storm system. Due to safety concerns, some had to be closed.
The following is a list of the impacted walkways and their condition:
- South Carolina Avenue Access: Steps onto beach are gone, need to replace
- Ocean Boulevard Access: Stairs onto beach are damaged and need repaired-public can temporarily use Hatteras ramp
- Alabama Avenue Access: Handicap ramp gone and supportive post missing, need replacement
- Texas Avenue Access: Need to add on stair to make for safe landing onto beach
- Scotch Bonnet Lane Access: Handicap ramp damaged, needs repair
- Sand Dollar Lane access: Handicap ramp leaning and needs repair-open to public
CAMA has issued approval to the town to make needed repairs, and staff have created a list of necessary materials to perform the work. Minor repairs will be made this week, while the more extensive repairs will be made beginning the week of November 29.
