BHI bones heading to Raleigh
The human skeletons found on Bald Head Island are going to the state capital. State archaeologists from Fort Fisher, who picked up the bones last week, are sending them to Raleigh to be analyzed. They hope an analysis by other scientists will reveal the age of the bones as well as the height, weight, and sex of the people.
An archaeological consulting film is going to determine the size of the burial site.
Crews renovating a golf course turned up two sets of bones. WWAY’s Hailey Winslow stumbled upon the third set while shooting a story on the state archaeologists’ work.
