Bicyclist killed on River Road

A 45-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a teenager yesterday evening.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on River Road between Cathay Road and Riverbreeze Drive.

State troopers say Phillip Tidmarsh of Rougemont, near Durham, was riding his bike when the driver hit him.

19-year-old Jordan Whitley of Wilmington has been charged with driving while impaired with further charges pending.
