Bigger and better than ever: Riverfest 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This year’s Riverfest filled up the riverfront on Water Street and was expanded to Chandler’s Wharf.

Since 1979 Riverfest has been celebrating life and Culture on the Cape fear and it’s been growing ever since.

This year more than 150,000 folks came out to enjoy the festivities.

Fireworks, two stages of entertainment and about 200 craft and food vendors are just a few of the things this weekend’s festival offered.
Vendors come from all over to sell their wares. One vendor from Philadelphia named Charita Powell told us it was her 10th year.

“I like the community,” Powell said. “I like how everyone comes out, celebrates each other, of course they support me and my crafts so I’ll definitely be back next year.”

But what was everyone was buzzing about this year? The weather. Upper 60’s and sunny made for perfect festival weather.
