WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This was BigShots weekend in Wilmington. 19 basketball teams made up the field. We checked out the action at Trask Middle School and Laney High School. Click on link above to see WWAY’s coverage of the two-day event.

WWAY Full Court Press co-host Kevin Schneider is the vice-president of BigShots. We caught up with Kevin in order to showcase the two-day event that featured several local teams. “This weekend we’re in 5 different cities across the country,” Kevin Scneider said.  “Wilmington has become a second home. We try to do at least 3 or 4 events a year here in Wilmington. BigShots is all about helping kids reach the next level, achieving their dreams of playing collegiately. We’ve had over 7500 players receive scholarships that played in BigShots with 122 to the NBA. It’s growing year to year. This is our 10th year. Over the years we’ve had great connections with college coaches. They respect the our opinions of players who play in BigShots.

Laney High head coach Nathan Faulk is the man behind Flight 22. “We just keep filling teams,” Faulk said. “We have a great staff. I have a lot of guys who want to work hard and coaches that work hard and they get after it.”  Kevin Schneider added “Nathan Faulk has grown his program into a premier programs not just in Wilmington, but the Carolinas. Ten years ago Nathan Faulk was part of our original 19 teams, so now we’re over 2,300 and with the way social media is players are able to get out there and Nate provides a platform. A lot of the local guys go with Flight 22 as well as Powerhouse and Blizzard.”
