Bike corral honors late cyclist
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington park is making room for cyclists with a new bike corral.
The structure will hold multiple bicycles and is part of an initiative to make the city more bike friendly. Cyclist Terry Benjey died in a cycling accident in 2013 and the corral was donated by his foundation and named in his honor. Foundation president Al Schroetel said Wilmington is a perfect city for cyclists.
“Number one, it gets more cars off the road which is good for the environment and it gets people more active which is good for the people,” Schroetel said.
This is the third known corral to be installed in the Wilmington.
