Bill to stall Titan being re-evaluated

State Representative Carolyn Justice has decided to re-evaluate a bill that would have effectively stalled the Titan America cement plant in Castle Hayne.

Last week, Justice along with Senator Julia Boseman inserted a late substitute for House Bill 1410, that would force the proposed Titan America plant to undergo a potentially extensive environmental review.

Tuesday, Representative Justice pulled the bill before it was discussed in committee.

Justice said the State Department of Commerce and the Governor’s Office were opposed to the bill, and that she plans to talk to both about the legislation before re-introducing it.
