Matt Bennett is a broadcast journalist with nearly a decade of experience in local news. He currently co-anchors WWAY’s weekday morning newscast, Good Morning Carolina.
Since joining the station in 2016, he has held a range of newsroom roles, including Production Assistant, Producer, Multimedia Journalist, Weekend Anchor, and Morning Anchor.
His reporting has focused on major weather events, public policy debates, and stories involving local government, education, and public safety. His coverage of school board meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with a series on the U.S. Navy that brought him aboard an aircraft carrier, earned recognition from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas.
Originally from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, Matt studied Communication Arts at Salisbury University in Maryland. He lives in downtown Wilmington with his wife, Anna, and their dog, Sherman.
