Black Friday

WILMINGTON–Target’s after Thanksgiving sale drew huge crowds Friday morning. Hundreds hopped out of bed early and waited patiently for the store to open at 6 am.

Surf City resident Aubrey Treadway was the first person in line. “Since 2:30 am..for the good deals.” Treadway says.

One of the hottest items people were after was this 26 inch flat screen tv for $299. It’s estimated 128 million people will shop nationwide this black Friday. That’s up from 66 million who shopped on the same day last year. One reason for the increase could be that retailers have lowered prices to entice customers to spend the green, in hopes of staying out of the red.

“I saved $105.00 whoohooo!” Starr Comer from Indiana Says.

Wilmington resident Curtis Halstead says. “Buy, just buy you know the economy is bad right now, but it’s not going to be forever.”

“I was cutting back earlier,” Tami Adams from Maryland says. “But I think now that it’s the holiday time, I think more people are going to be spending. I think this is what everybody has been waiting for.”

Experts also suggest try comparison shopping. With our tough economic crunch, some retailers are willing to match prices.
